Consumer Cancellation, Refund, and Withdrawal Policy

This policy applies to consumers who buy or book goods, services, digital content, event places, memberships, subscriptions, or other paid offers from The Unusual Space at distance, including through https://theunusualspace.com, unless a specific service agreement or event policy gives you additional rights. This policy does not limit mandatory rights you have under Dutch or EU consumer law.
Who is a consumer?
A consumer is a natural person acting for purposes outside their trade, business, craft, or profession.
Business customers do not have the statutory consumer right of withdrawal, unless we expressly grant a commercial cancellation right in the relevant agreement or offer.
General 14-day right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer and you enter into a distance contract with us, you generally have the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days without giving a reason, unless a legal exception applies.
For goods, the withdrawal period generally starts on the day after you, or a third party designated by you, receive the goods.
For services, memberships, subscriptions, and digital services, the withdrawal period generally starts on the day after the contract is concluded.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, you must inform us of your decision by a clear statement before the withdrawal period expires. You may use the model withdrawal form below, but this is not mandatory.
How to withdraw
Send your withdrawal notice to [email protected] or by post to Unusual Companies BV, Vinkenburgstraat 2A, 3512 AB Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Include your name, contact details, order or booking reference if available, the service or product concerned, and a clear statement that you withdraw from the contract.
We may confirm receipt of your withdrawal by email.
Services started during the withdrawal period
If you ask us to start providing a service during the 14-day withdrawal period, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for the service already provided until the moment you inform us of withdrawal.
If the service has been fully performed during the withdrawal period, you may lose the right of withdrawal if you expressly consented to immediate performance and acknowledged that you would lose the right of withdrawal once the service was fully performed.
We will not treat silence or a pre-ticked box as valid consent to immediate performance or loss of withdrawal rights.
Digital content and online materials
For digital content not supplied on a tangible medium, such as downloadable materials, online recordings, templates, or immediate digital access, you may lose the right of withdrawal if delivery begins with your prior express consent and your acknowledgement that you lose the right of withdrawal once performance begins, where legally permitted.
If these confirmations are not properly obtained, the statutory withdrawal right may remain available.
Events, venue bookings, time-specific services, and leisure activities
For event tickets, venue bookings, workspace reservations, leisure activities, accommodation-like services, catering, or other services tied to a specific date or period, the statutory withdrawal right may not apply where the law provides an exception.
The applicable cancellation deadline, refund amount, rescheduling option, or no-refund rule will be stated in the relevant event page, booking confirmation, quotation, or agreement.
If an event or booking is cancelled by us, we will offer a remedy in accordance with the applicable booking conditions and mandatory law, such as rescheduling, credit, or refund where required.
Goods and physical products, if sold
If we sell physical goods, you must return the goods without undue delay and in any event within 14 days after notifying us of withdrawal.
You must return goods in the condition reasonably necessary to inspect them. You are liable for any diminished value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics, and functioning of the goods.
You bear the direct cost of return shipping unless we state otherwise or fail to inform you that you must bear those costs.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you provide evidence that you have sent them back, whichever occurs first.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal may not apply, or may be lost, in situations permitted by law, including: services fully performed with prior express consent and acknowledgement of loss of withdrawal right; digital content started with prior express consent and acknowledgement; custom-made or personalised goods; sealed goods not suitable for return for health or hygiene reasons once unsealed; goods liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly; newspapers or magazines except subscriptions; and time-specific leisure, event, venue, accommodation, transport, catering, or similar bookings where the law provides an exception.
If an exception applies, we will inform you before purchase or booking where legally required.
Refunds
If you validly withdraw, we will refund payments received from you, including standard delivery costs where applicable, without undue delay and in any event within 14 days after we are informed of your decision to withdraw, subject to lawful withholding for returned goods as described above.
We will use the same payment method you used for the original transaction unless you expressly agree otherwise. You will not be charged a fee by us for the refund.
We do not refund extra delivery costs resulting from your choice of a delivery method more expensive than our least expensive standard delivery method, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
Commercial cancellation fees for events, bookings, or services may apply only where permitted by law and clearly stated before purchase or booking.
